Life in Medieval Esslignen

The focus of this tour is on Esslingen's medieval buildings and what life was like during this time period -- in essence it is like taking a trip back into the 12 -16th century!  Some of this tour's highlights include:

  • Half-timbered homes (Fachwerk in German), old churches, the remains of the city wall, tower gates and the view of the castle (Burg)

  • A rare 13th-century residence tower and "outhouse" - very unusual!

  • Beautiful "Little Venice", romantic canals and the charming 760-year old "inner bridge" which connected Esslingen to the outside world.

  • Insider and hidden sites, which are not easily found on your own

  • The old city-hall building, the most beautiful half-timbered medieval building in Esslingen

  • Several stories about medieval Esslingen told in Tom's humorous way.  What were the people like in the medieval times, what was their society like, what role did the religion, guilds and the justice system play?

There are approximately 11 stops also allowing time for questions and pictures.
